Motel Ontario opened on Rue Ontario Est from Vincent Châtelais's small Hochelaga restaurant group, which also runs État-Major next door and Heirloom pizzeria beside it — three distinct concepts under one restaurateur, not a repeated banner. Chef Gabrielle Girard and Maxime Perreault run a market-driven, sharing-plates menu (crispy eggplant, beef rump tataki, salmon tartare, fried cod bao buns) built around house-made focaccia, in a room the owners describe as convivial and unpretentious — a nod to Châtelais's long-held dream of a roadside motel. Open Tuesday through Sunday evenings, closed Monday.
