Monarque
406 Rue Saint-Jacques, Montréal, QC H2Y 1S1, Montréal
The father-and-son grand house of Old Montréal: Richard and Jérémie Bastien, since 2018, in a stone-and-marble room on Saint-Jacques. Two rooms, two menus, two kitchens — the all-day bistro Brasserie, and the Salle à Manger with its four-course evening menu and lunchtime table d'hôte. The restaurant's own garden feeds the kitchen, and the name — Jérémie's choice — evokes the monarch butterfly's multi-generation migration. Book carefully: Brasserie and Salle à Manger share neither menu nor kitchen.
