Barroco
312 Rue Saint-Paul Ouest, Montréal, QC H2Y 2A3, Canada, Montréal
A French-inspired steakhouse in an 1800s stone building in Old Montreal, open since 2008 and part of Groupe Barroco (also behind Foiegwa, Trattoria Fugazzi, Milky Way and ACC — distinct concepts, not repeats of this room). The kitchen leans on butcher cuts cooked over open fire, but the paella — loaded with lobster, scallops and prawns — remains the dish most people order and remember, a holdover from the room's original Mediterranean-tavern days.
