Tran Cantine Vietnamienne
4690 Rue Notre-Dame Ouest
On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Vietnamese cantine opened in June 2017 at the corner of Notre-Dame and Courcelle by Marylyn Tran and her husband Wayne — it was Tony Campanelli, of nearby Café Campanelli, who tipped them off to the vacant space. The name keeps the family surname alive; recipes come from her parents' restaurant, Pho Tay Ho, adapted for the new spot.
Broths and marinades are made in-house; the phở and bánh mì rank among Tastet's picks for the best in Montreal. Marylyn gave birth to a son the same week the restaurant opened.
