Szechuan par Mr Ma

400, rue Notre-Dame Ouest

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

A family-run restaurant on Rue Notre-Dame after relocating from Place Ville-Marie, Szechuan par Mr Ma draws on 42 years of the Ma family's experience in Montréal's Chinese restaurant business. In an intimate room of white tablecloths and red lanterns, it's Mrs. Ma who greets guests and guides them through the menu, built around a whole Peking duck carved tableside and a Mongolian beef.

The restaurant runs largely on phone reservations, with no dedicated website.
