Monarque

406, rue Saint-Jacques, Montréal

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Opened in September 2018 on Rue Saint-Jacques by chef Jérémie Bastien, working alongside his father Richard Bastien — the family behind Leméac and Le Mitoyen. The name Monarque nods to the monarch butterfly's migration, echoing Jérémie's own path through Vancouver (Boneta) and Asia before returning to Montreal.

The kitchen pairs land and sea, balancing respect for Quebec tradition with culinary daring, in a dining room that plays on both royal elegance and the butterfly motif.
