Smoke Meat Pete

283, 1re Avenue, L'Île-Perrot

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

The lineage runs back to the Main Deli Steak House, founded in 1974 by Peter Varvaro Sr., across from Schwartz's. His son Peter Jr., twenty years slicing meat beside his father, crossed the bridges to open Smoke Meat Pete — named Montréal's best sandwich by the Gazette in 2001.

Since the Main closed in 2023, this is where the original recipe carries on — with blues on stage every night.
