L'Estaminet

1340, rue Fleury Est, Montréal

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Café-bistro opened December 5, 1985 on Promenade Fleury by André Masson, whose parents already ran a neighbouring stationery shop; the concept grew out of their trips to Europe studying cafés and bistros. Now run by his son Sébastien Masson, L'Estaminet serves pan-European fare — croques, individual pizzas, table d'hôte — plus an extensive weekend brunch.

Of the 24 restaurants now on Promenade Fleury, L'Estaminet is one of only four still operating since 1985.
