Rôtisserie Panama

789, rue Jean-Talon Ouest, Montréal

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Greek tavern open since 1999 on Jean-Talon Ouest, now run by the Koukoutsis family — Dimitrios and Olga, with daughters Vicky and Tina. The name comes from the previous owners, who had lived in Panama before opening the restaurant. Chef Georges runs the kitchen; grilled chicken is the dish that put the place on the map, alongside octopus, grilled fish, lamb chops, and Greek salads.

The 100-seat room, decorated with blue-and-white tile by co-owner Olga, evokes Greece. Cult MTL and Tastet both rank it among Montréal's best Greek restaurants; sister locations also operate in Laval and the West Island.
