Restaurant Helena

438 rue McGill

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

The eponymous restaurant of Portuguese chef Helena Loureiro, on McGill Street in Old Montreal, has spent more than a decade celebrating the culinary traditions of her native country through tapas and slow-cooked dishes. The décor, by Agostino De Reggi, opts for restrained, understated elegance.

Recognized as an ambassador for Portuguese cuisine in Montreal, Loureiro serves a menu faithful to the classics in a chic room that steers away from genre clichés.
