On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Family restaurant opened in 1976 across from the Jean-Talon Market by Georges Frangié, a native of Aleppo, whose Armenian wife Jacqueline had studied in that Syrian city. His daughters Chahla and Tania went on to open their own address, Le Petit Alep, at 191 Jean-Talon East in 1995 — a distinct establishment that earned a Bib Gourmand in Quebec's first Michelin guide in 2025.
Alep, still operating today at 199 Jean-Talon East, serves a wide range of mezze and meat and fish dishes with Syrian-Armenian flavours, backed by a privately-imported natural-wine list.
Restaurant Alep is on the Regulars map — spotted, not yet visited. Our guides are written on foot, door by door, and no one pays to appear: when we walk through the door, this note will become a portrait. No points. No coupons. Standing is earned.
