El Rey del Taco

232 Rue Jean-Talon Est, Montréal

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Jean-Talon Market taquería operating since 2009, known for street-style tacos sold in sets of four on house-made tortillas, topped simply with onion, cilantro, and salsa. The menu runs deep — lengua, cabeza, suadero, nopales — alongside al pastor, carnitas, and barbacoa.

A market-style counter next door sells tortillas, salsas, and churros, with a pared-down Mile End outpost. Named best tacos in Montreal in Cult MTL's 2024 Best of MTL readers' poll.
