Mui Mui

149 Rue Jean-Talon Ouest, Montréal

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Asian-inspired address opened in January 2021 on Jean-Talon Ouest, in the former Jiep Jiep space, by chef Minh Phat, formerly of Orange Rouge (closed during the pandemic) — the name, meaning "little sister" in Cantonese, is a nod to that restaurant. Phat teamed up with friends Millie Maude Desgrange, Thierry Justin, and Alexander Des Rosiers for a fusion menu built for sharing.

Duck confit dumplings, featured by Radio-Canada's Mordu, and soy-sugar-gochujang glazed ribs are among the classics carried over from Orange Rouge. Reviewed by La Presse in 2022 ("Bonne humeur et partage chez Mui Mui").
