Liverpool House

2501 rue Notre-Dame Ouest

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Opened in 2007 as an Italian trattoria with Emma Cardarelli in the kitchen, before developing its own market-French bistro identity. The restaurant belongs to the same trio behind Joe Beef and Vin Papillon — David McMillan, Frédéric Morin and Allison Cunningham — and sits next door, conceived as a neighbourhood table rather than a tourist stop.

The menu leans on bourgeois French cooking and old-world producer wines; expect halibut and braised rabbit rather than Joe Beef's sole. Cult MTL calls it an essential Notre-Dame West address.
