Bar Otto

2695 rue Notre-Dame Ouest

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

Opened on Notre-Dame West by the team behind Otto Yakitori (2016) and Momiji, this third venture from Hanhak Kim's group puts chef Yutaka Abe in the kitchen. Sashimi, yuzu-mayo karaage chicken and mazemen — broth-less Japanese noodles, notably a mushroom-truffle version — anchor the menu, backed by a natural wine and sake list curated by Maureen Rouge.

The room, designed by Israël Noël of Architecture Synthèse with artwork by painter Dan Climan, evokes a contemporary izakaya; Tastet ranks it among Montreal's best Japanese restaurants.
