On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Diner opened in 1947 at the corner of Greene and Notre-Dame, relocated across the street in 1989 with its original décor intact — jukeboxes, vinyl booths, counter stools. The name plays on "Greene" and "green marks the spot," per co-owner Jon Pavlakos, who runs it with Nick Ioannidis, Louis Stavropoulos and Stellios Kiliaris.
The kitchen, led for 42 years by Denis Vavougios, turns out more than thirty poutine variations and has never trimmed the menu. Its 75th anniversary, marked in 2022, celebrated three quarters of a century on the same corner.
Greenspot is on the Regulars map — spotted, not yet visited. Our guides are written on foot, door by door, and no one pays to appear: when we walk through the door, this note will become a portrait. No points. No coupons. Standing is earned.
