Barroco
312 rue Saint-Paul Ouest
On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Opened in 2008 on Saint-Paul Street West by chef Jérémie Falissard with partners Louis Koorevaar and Roberto Porres, inside a former gastropub with stone walls. Originally from southern France, Falissard settled in Montreal in 2005 and once competed on Top Chef France; at Barroco he builds French bourgeois cooking around Quebec terroir and open-fire grilling.
The dining room keeps the exposed stone and beams of the ancestral building intact. Barroco has become an established Old Montreal address for hearty French cuisine.
