Stash Café

200 rue Saint-Paul Ouest

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

A Polish institution in Old Montreal for more than thirty years, born from a small café on Saint-Sulpice Street run by Stanislas, a Gazette journalist whose nickname gave the place its name. Anita Karski, born in Montreal to Polish parents and a former server there, now owns the restaurant.

The kitchen focuses on handmade classics — pierogi, stuffed cabbage rolls, vinegar-forward borscht — served in a rustic tavern-style room animated nightly by a live pianist.
