Snowdon Deli

5265, boulevard Décarie

On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.

A smoked-meat institution opened in 1946 by brothers Abe, Joe and Phil Snowdon on Boulevard Décarie, still run by the Fishman family today. Per Tastet and Cult MTL, the deli goes through roughly 550 kg of smoked meat a week, spiced with the peppery, garlicky blend that's become its signature.

Beyond the brisket, the menu runs to more than a hundred classic Jewish dishes — chopped liver, matzo ball soup, latkes. At the helm, Hart Fishman keeps a neighbourhood feel where regulars say it's like a second home.
