On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Opened in July 2016 at the corner of Atwater and Notre-Dame, in a former La Belle Province, by Groupe Barroco (Jérémie Falissard, Roberto Porres, the Gauley brothers), also behind Barroco and Bocata in Old Montreal. The name comes from a cry at a Las Vegas pop-up — "Foie gwa!" — that became a hashtag and then the restaurant's name.
The unapologetically French-bistro menu runs spaghetti with butter and black truffle, a cheeseburger with an optional foie gras add-on, and cassoulet; Atwater Cocktail Club, reached through a back alley, is its late-night extension.
Foiegwa is on the Regulars map — spotted, not yet visited. Our guides are written on foot, door by door, and no one pays to appear: when we walk through the door, this note will become a portrait. No points. No coupons. Standing is earned.
