West of the BridgeVaudreuil-Soulanges

Hudson, Saint-Lazare, Vaudreuil and the river towns worth the drive. Not an extension of the West Island—a territory with its own counters, village rooms and reasons to cross.

A region, not an overflow zone.

The bridge is a real boundary. On the other side, the rhythm changes: village mains, old highway counters, riverside terraces and destination tables surrounded by fields.

These rooms are documented through public sources and local knowledge. No one paid to appear, and inclusion does not imply a Regulars partnership. The guide will deepen as we walk it, door by door.

01 / THE CROSSING

The first stop after Montréal.

Île-Perrot is not the tail end of another guide. It is where Vaudreuil-Soulanges begins.

L'Île-Perrot · family line since 1974

Smoke Meat Pete

Peter Varvaro Jr. carried the craft learned beside his father at the Main across the bridge in 1996. Thick-cut smoked meat, fries made to his mother’s rule and live blues turn a highway room into a destination.

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue · at the bridge · 45 years

Le Surcouf

The threshold room: refined French classics and Québec terroir by the canal, with onion soup, rack of lamb, veal liver and a fireplace that has held special occasions for generations.

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue · canal terrace · since 2016

Olé Tapas

Chef-owner Nikolaos “Nic” Giannakopoulos built his family-run Spanish room from a love of Andalusia. The heated canal terrace and squid-ink paella make it a natural last table before the crossing.

Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot · cooperative brewery

Perodam

A community-minded microbrewery on Boulevard Perrot: local beer, an easy room and a stop that belongs to the island rather than the commute.

Pincourt · since 1986

L’Étoile de Pincourt

A ninety-seat family room whose wall tells its own history. Hand-cut smoked meat, pizza, Greek plates and the kind of breakfast trade built over decades.

Pincourt · family casse-croûte

Chez GloRy

The owners worked in restaurants for twenty years before opening their own counter in 2020. The Philly-steak poutine and fresh-cut fries are the repeat orders.

02 / VAUDREUIL–DORION

The two centres.

Harwood and Saint-Charles hold different histories. The useful guide keeps both in view.

Waterfront · fast food revisited

Patate et Persil

Chef-owner Éric Blais treats the casse-croûte with a cook’s attention: poutine, burgers and quesadillas, vegetarian and gluten-free choices, and a terrace that puts the Baie de Vaudreuil beside lunch.

Harwood · since 1959

Restaurant Dorion

A new family took over in 2003 with a promise not to change the room. Pizza, souvlaki and a local tradition whose consistency is the point.

Heritage house · bring your own wine

Le Charleville

French and Québécois cooking in a century-old house. Stéphane Boudreau rebuilds the four-course tasting menu monthly around the season, while the à la carte keeps the room approachable.

Harwood · family-run Mexican

Dos Chamakas

Mom cooks and her sons run the floor. Birria tacos, quesabirrias and fajitas arrive with the warmth of a family room, not a rollout.

View on Regulars →
Saint-Charles · the Lanni family

Trattoria Lanni

Wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta from a family with decades in restaurants; live music on Fridays and Saturdays makes the dining room linger.

03 / HUDSON

Main Street after dark.

Coffee in the morning, a taproom in the afternoon and enough small rooms to let dinner become a route of its own.

Main Road · roasted in Hudson

Mikko Café

A family micro-roastery using an eco-minded Loring machine, with house blends, pastry, an upstairs lounge and objects from local makers. The coffee is made here, not merely served here.

Main Road · 72-hour sourdough

Bottē

A 130-year-old starter, organic 00 flour and three days of fermentation. The village pizzeria pours a deep selection of nearby Le Castor beer.

Village centre · bring your own wine

Main Kitchen

Chef-co-owners Tino and MJ run a small open-kitchen tapas room whose menu moves often. It is intimate, lively and already woven into Hudson’s idea of a night out.

Raw bar · plancha · cocktails

Taverna

Oysters, crudo, fish and steak from the plancha in an intimate blue room. Thursdays shift the kitchen toward the charcoal grill.

Since 2020 · the village stage

Cardinal Brewing

A former autobody shop turned taproom with a dozen taps, pizza and a weekly life of live music, acoustic jams, trivia and comedy.

04 / COUNTRY & RIVER

The road earns the meal.

Saint-Lazare and Les Cèdres replace density with intention: you choose the room, then make the drive.

Saint-Lazare · Antoine Sicotte

Rebelle Bistro

The “cuisinier rebelle” built a modern village bistro around creative Mediterranean-leaning cooking. The market-led table d’hôte is the clearest way into the room.

View on Regulars →
Saint-Lazare · French brasserie

Brasserie Angélique

A quiet chalet-like room built around charcoal cooking: smoked-tomato bisque with burrata, charred vegetables and one of the village’s most established Sunday brunches.

View on Regulars →
Saint-Lazare · pastry first

Zéphyr

Layered cakes, exact macarons and a small savoury side make this more than a coffee stop. The pastry case is the reason to plan the detour.

View on Regulars →
Les Cèdres · farm-minded · three nights

Mati Bistro Chic

Chef Natasha builds a boutique Thursday-to-Saturday table around Montérégie and Vaudreuil-Soulanges producers. This is the river-road destination to reserve, not stumble into.

Les Cèdres · ancestral house

Deux Grains au Moulin

Artisanal bread, Italian coffee and made-to-order sandwiches in a renovated family house, with a shaded gallery and an upstairs view toward the river.
