Bistro Amerigo
6127, avenue Monkland, Montréal
On our map. We haven't walked through the door yet — here's why it's on the list.
Italian bistro opened in 2010 on Avenue Monkland by chef-owner Stephen Marcone, who named it after his father, Amerigo Marcone. The family-style cooking centres on hand-rolled meatballs, fried calamari and fresh pastas, including the cavatelli barese.
The wine list favours private imports from Rome and Sicily. The room takes no reservations and runs walk-in only, making for a lively space where waiting is part of the neighbourhood ritual.
