Experience guide · Montréal · Summer 2026

The bar crawl with friends.

A good crawl holds to three rules: a single neighbourhood, on foot. Four or five rooms, no more. And the food anchor in the middle — never at the end.

An independent guide by Regulars. No room pays to appear here; none is told. Verified July 2026.

The mechanics

Montréal bars serve until 3 a.m. — but the kitchens die well before. Most close around 10 p.m.; the best hold until 2 a.m. Hence the rule: you eat at the third stop, not the fifth. You reserve only one room per crawl — the anchor's — and you walk the rest. In summer, two of these three crawls run on a pedestrian street.

CRAWL I

Mile End

≈ 1.6 km on foot · five stops · start 4 p.m.

1
Dieu du Ciel!, avenue Laurier — the brewpub since 1998, tap list dated for the day. You start here because it's full by 6.
2
La Buvette Chez Simone, avenue du Parc — Montréal's 5 à 7 school, from 4 p.m. Early, not late: the house closes before the others.
3
Food anchor — Larrys, corner of Fairmount: kitchen until 10 p.m., reservations from 5 p.m. The only room you book.
4
Sparrow, on the Main — church-pew tavern; Thursday–Saturday, walk-in only.
5
Bar Henrietta, avenue Laurier — two floors, Portuguese, no reservations, until 3 a.m. The neighbourhood ends its nights here; so do you.
CRAWL II

The Plateau, lower Main

≈ 1.2 km on foot · four stops + the emergency slice

1
Réservoir, avenue Duluth — brewer since 2002, two-level terrasse, a real kitchen. The civilized start.
2
Else's, Roy Street — corner tavern, noon to 3 a.m.; here you order a bite with the pint, and that's just right.
3
Food anchor — Majestique, on the Main: oysters at 5 à 7, kitchen until 2 a.m. — the latest of the crawl. It's the one you book on weekends.
4
Le Darling, on the Main — until 3 a.m. Thursday–Saturday, late-night menu late at night, no reservations.
+
The emergency slice: Patati Patata, corner of Rachel — twelve stools, open until 2 a.m.
CRAWL III

Verdun, Wellington Street

≈ 1.7 km on foot · five stops · pedestrian street June 15 to September 14

1
Bar Verdun Beach — natural wine, kitchen 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Reserve this first stop; everything else is walk-in.
2
Benelux Wellington — Verdun's first brewpub (2013, after more than a century of a "dry" neighbourhood). The longest walk of the night, on the car-free street.
3
Food anchor — Les Street Monkeys: Cambodian street food. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday — on those nights, the anchor slides to La Bêtise or Bar Social.
4
Bar Social Verdun — quiz on Wednesday, live shows, until 3 a.m. Tuesday to Sunday.
5
Café Pino — on Wellington since 1969, open daily until 3 a.m., with unpretentious food. The neighbourhood's late plate. In the mood for music? Le Billy keeps the old Palco address alive, Thursday–Saturday until 3 a.m.
